9. A task force under ministry of women and child development set up to examine matter pertaining to age of motherhood imperative of lowering maternal mortality rate improvement of nutritional level.

In budget speech of finance Minister, ministry stated that women age of marriage was increased 14 to 18 years in 1978 by amending erstwhile Sharda act 1929.
For further improvement of women finance minister proposed task force and now the task force has created.
The terms and reference of task force as
Examine age of marriage motherhood with health medical key parameters, infant mortality rate, maternal mortality rate, total fertility rate, sex ratio at birth, child sex ratio.
Suggest measures promoting higher education among women
Amendment in existing laws.
Sharda Act 1929- Various bills addressing questions on the age of consent were introduced in the Indian legislatures and defeated. In 1927, Rai Sahib Harbilas Sarda introduced his Hindu Child Marriage Bill in the Central Legislative Assembly.
The Child Marriage Restraint Act was the first social reform issue which was taken up by the organized women in India.
